The Black Heroes of American History

In this activity, we will learn about some notable Black Americans and their contributions to history including George Washington Carver, Katherine Johnson, Shirley Chisholm, Maya Angelou, and Jean-Michele Basquiat.

We will be drawing one of these important Black figures as a cartoon superhero as inspired by the paintings of Kerry James Marshall!

So grab your journal and a pencil, and get ready to make an awesome superhero!
