The Gate of All Nations/Persepolis

In this activity, we will learn about the Persian Empire, it’s capital Persepolis, and how to draw a mythological creature known as Lamassu.

Remember that during the Ancient Persian Empire, the Lamassu was thought to be a celestial being or deity who had the body of a Bull, the head of a man, as well as wings. They were used as symbols of protection and power, hence why Xerxes used them for the gate of Persepolis.

So grab your journal and a pencil, and get ready to make an awesome drawing inspired by the guardian Lamassu of the gate of all nations!

Supplies Needed:

  • A piece of white paper (or a journal/sketchpad)

  • A pencil
