African Art and Stories
History Lesson:
In Studio B, which is for students grades PreK-2nd, students learned about stories and art from West Africa. Each project exposed them to a different part of the region and they learned about the culture, music, art, religion, and history of each area. Projects included Kanaga masks by the Dogon people, Koras (harp-lutes) and Djembe drums by the Mandé people, mud cloth and Sogo Bó puppetry from Mali, pictographs, and the mosque in Djenné, Mali.
